I’m a mom with a camera. A Photographer with kids. I’m not just your ordinary {run of the mill} snap happy parent who likes to take pics at birthday parties. I can be obsessive, some might even say compulsive; relentless in documenting my family’s every move, every milestone, every laugh, every cry.
I find comfort in knowing I’m not the only one out there. You might not yet know it, but you could be a junkie too. We probably have a lot in common. Our spouses secretly hate our cameras. Our spouses openly hate our cameras. Our kids suffer from camera shock, (also known as photographer’s kid syndrome) and will likely need therapy in the future. Some of us exhibit additional compulsions like prop junky-ism and Facebook-oversharing-ness. You might prefer to keep all the pictures to yourself on endless hard drives and in old shoe boxes, vowing one day to finally create 15 years worth of family year book photo albums. Others of us over share every click of the camera on social media while sitting in the dark with the glow of the screen on our faces, waiting for the likes to roll in. It’s a problem, no matter how it manifests, and in the end we are all the same. I’m a photo junkie – and this is my story…
