They say everyone starts somewhere, and as is the case with most budding photography enthusiasts, I started with flowers. Lots and lots of flowers. You can find a flower almost anywhere you look, when you’re a photographer.
Prior to picking up a camera, you might not have even notice the hundreds of flowers you would have blindly walked past on that short spur of the moment nature walk with your hubby. You both might have otherwise actually enjoyed such a walk. But then you discovered your new 35mm camera and flowers are all of a sudden everywhere. (Who am I kidding, I’d even photograph weeds).
So just try to imagine my husband’s frustration as we stop every 5 feet to photograph another patch of flowers (slash weeds). Those were some rough early days. All I wanted to do was take 100 pictures of the same flower from every angle and camera setting (that I just learned) possible. I wanted to wait for the sun to set, I wanted to lay there all day and daydream about working as a travel photographer who got paid gobs of money just to photograph this beautiful rare flower (or weed) that no one has ever seen before.
And my husband just wanted to die—- “Will this nature walk from hell ever end?” — is what he probably wanted to say 500 times over. No honey – it will never end… but look at all these pretty flowers.
