Did you know that moms have more than one birthday? I happen to celebrate 5 birthdays myself. My original birthday, and then the 4 “BIRTH-days” that followed. The last 4 are days I will never forget and I still feel like they happened just yesterday. (A phenomenon known as mother nature’s birth control).
My birthdays all fall between the months of April and August… so I lovingly refer to this as “Spummer”. It’s a beautiful time of the year where I get to share in my kids joy as they turn a year older. It’s hard to believe how small they once were as I see how big they get with each Spummer that passes.
But Spummer can get a little taxing, as life tends to be, and I have to remind myself of how fast it all goes by when overwhelmed by the parties, presents, cakes, cupcakes, balloons, etc, that come with Spummer. It can get to be a lot at times… and feels like it will go on forever and ever.
But then Spummer comes to an end and I get a little sad because I know one day Spummer won’t come with all the crazy joy that it does now. So I strive to find the joy in the crazy while Spummer lasts.
And of course… I photograph the hell out of Spummer.
