Balloons make a fantastic prop for any portrait occasion. They are whimsical and can add a pop of color or even enhance a mono palate. They are inexpensive and they add fantasy and fun and give the kids something to do or hold onto and allow the photographer just enough time to capture the essence of the scene before toddler or baby decides to wander off. If I could put balloons in every portrait I probably would. They’re just fun, plain and simple. But what I like best about them is they are inexpensive and practical for both home studio, candid family shots, just as well as studio setups. Which is really awesome right about now as we work through stay at home orders and business shutdowns during COVID-19. Families might not be getting to their favorite studio for milestone and family portraits and have had to do a lot of the memory making right from home with their own cameras and iPhones. What better way to add some pizzazz to your home photos, then with balloons. P.S. Hot air balloons count too.
